Six Umno reps summoned by MACC over alleged plot to oust Perak MB (updated)

IPOH: Six Umno assemblymen have been summoned by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) here to have their statements recorded over an alleged plot to topple the Perak Mentri Besar.

Besides Perak opposition leader Datuk Saarani Mohamad (Kota Tampan), the other five were Datuk Sham Mat Sahat (Alor Pongsu), Datuk Shahrul Zaman Yahya (Rungkup), Jurij Jalaludin (Lubuk Merbau), Maslin Sham Razman (Bukit Chandan), and Khairul Shahril Mohamed (Bota).

Sham was the first to arrive at the state MACC headquarters in Meru at 12.30pm Thursday (Dec 6) followed by Shahrul, while Jurij was the last to arrive at 5pm.

Jurij and Saarani are still being questioned at the MACC office.

Saarani had claimed that a Pakatan state executive councillor had approached five Umno assemblymen at various locations in Perak and Kuala Lumpur to get their support to oust Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.

He alleged that Perak DAP vice-chairman Dr Abdul Aziz Bari was the exco member out to topple the Mentri Besar.

Earlier Maslin and Khairul told reporters that they were called by MACC to assist in investigations into the plot to topple Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal.

Maslin said that he had brought along the statutory declaration that he had signed.

When contacted, state MACC director Datuk Zainul Darus confirmed that statements were being taken from the assemblymen.
