KUALA LUMPUR: The mood was upbeat at the Wanita MCA pre-annual general meeting (AGM) on Friday (Nov 30).
Wanita MCA central delegates from all across the nation gathered at San Choon Hall in Wisma MCA ahead of the wing's annual general meeting on Saturday (Dec 1).
Some of the delegates took turns to sing and dance on stage to entertain their fellow members.
The central delegates' spirits were lifted further when newly-minted party president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong arrived at the venue.
In his speech, he said the party needed strong support from all party members to face the challenges ahead.
"I am touched to see so many delegates here. With all the support, I believe the prospects of MCA will be bright.
"We will not be defeated," he said to a round of applause.
Wanita chief Datuk Heng Seai Kie said she hoped all delegates from across the nation would have an enjoyable night.
"This is like an annual dinner for us, a gathering to meet each other," she said.
"I know some of our sisters here will be performing. Although they are not professionally-trained, I hope you will enjoy the night," she said.
MCA Youth has also organised a pre-annual general meeting concurrently at the ground floor at Wisma MCA.
The dinners were organised to welcome MCA delegates who came from near and far ahead of the AGM.
The annual general assembly for the new session will convene on Dec 1 for MCA Youth and Wanita MCA, and Dec 2 for MCA at Wisma MCA.
