IPOH: Perak Umno chief Datuk Saarani Mohamad (pic) says he is not scared of the police report of the alleged plot to oust the Mentri Besar, and ready to be called in by the police to give his statement.

He was commenting on the police report on the alleged coup attempt lodged at the Dangi Wangi police headquarters in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday (Nov 28) by Pakatan Harapan secretariat chief and Batu Gajah MP V. Sivakumar.

“Do not think that we are scared, and that they can threaten me and my friends by lodging a police report," said Saarani who is also the state's opposition leader.

“Sivakumar must understand that by lodging a police report, they (Pakatan executive councillors)  must shoulder the responsibility and face the consequences, as now, a whole can of worms has been opened.

“We have all the evidence, facts and the events (of) the state executive councillors who approached Umno assemblymen to support a vote of no confidence against Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu,” he told a press conference on the sidelines of the state assembly sitting on Thursday (Nov 29).

He said 24 other Umno assemblymen were also ready to provide all the necessary information to the police.

Sivakumar had said that those involved in attempting to topple the state government could face criminal prosecution, adding that it was an offence under Section 124 of the Penal Code to create incitement to topple a democratically-elected government.

Saarani claimed a state exco member is still continuing with his efforts to topple the Perak government despite Ahmad Faizal's claimt that all was well in the administration of the state.

“I will not reveal as to how he is doing this, but at the eleventh hour, trust me, he is still trying hard to go on with his plans to pass a vote of no confidence.

“We thought with the issue now widely reported in the media, the exco member will stop with his intentions, but no, he is still at it,” he added.

Saarani said as a strong opposition, they would not stop talking as they had nothing to fear.

“We are not the ones creating chaos, but instead, the state executive councillors are divided among themselves,” he added.

On Wednesday, Ahmad Faizal Azumu dismissed talk of a coup against him, and insists that he has a good working relationship with all 10 of his state executive councillors.

He was responding to claims that certain exco members approached Umno assemblymen for support in an attempt to remove Ahmad Faizal as mentri besar via a motion of no-confidence in the state assembly.

Saarani had claimed there was a possibility that state elections may be held due to an impending vote of no confidence against Ahmad Faizal.

He claimed trouble was brewing among the state exco members from the Pakatan government.

On Tuesday (Nov 27), Saarani said he was willing to reveal the names of the exco members who approached Umno assemblymen to support their attempts to remove Ahmad Faizal.
