Grandiose plans to house the poor

Expanding horizons: Zuraida wants to introduce the ‘looking-out concept’ to enable PPR residents to get fresh air and see other people.

Housing and Local Government Zuraida Kamaruddin believes she can help turn around the lives of the lower income group by providing them a bigger space and better living conditions.

WITH 100,000 homes for the poor in mind to be built per annum, the Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin has grandiose plans for the poor – spacious flats of at least 900 sq ft with open balconies and good building management, as opposed to the People Housing Project (PPR) pigeon holes that we see dotting the cities on stacks today.
