JOHOR BARU: The Government has approved almost RM30mil under the 11th Malaysian Plan (RMK11) for repair works to be carried out at Sultanah Aminah Hospital (HSA).

Health Ministry Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad said that a RM25mil allocation has been approved for sprinkler installations, wiring and other related works, which were being prepared and checked by the Works Department.

“A total of RM4.77mil has been approved under the RMK11 third rolling plan for upgrading works at the hospital where it is being provided by the engineering service unit.

“Besides that, HSA has also appealed for an allocation of RM10.5mil under the RMK11 fourth rolling plan to restore its south intensive care unit (ICU) which was badly damaged during a fire incident some two years ago,” he added.

Dr Dzulkefly said this to the media after conducting a working visit at HSA and Permai Hospital here on Sunday (Nov 25).

It was reported that the fire, which broke out on the second floor of the hospital’s south ICU ward on Oct 25, 2016, claimed the lives of six patients.
