Police corporal faces three bribery charges involving RM33,400

KUALA LUMPUR: A police corporal has been charged with three counts of soliciting and obtaining a bribe of more than RM30,000 as an inducement to release two suspects allegedly involved in a syndicate issuing fake passport, permit and visa to foreigners.

Korp Abu Bakar Gembor, 45, who is attached to the Commercial Crime Investigation Department of the Brickfields District Police Headquarters here, was charged with soliciting RM30,000 from Loo Kwi Faa, 44, as an inducement to release him and Choong Yew Min, 29, who had been arrested on suspicion of being involved in the syndicate.
