MACC detains headmaster, two teachers over RM5,000 bribe for transfer request

PORT KLANG (Bernama): The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has detained three male teachers including the headmaster of a primary school in Pandamaran for allegedly requesting and receiving a bribe of RM5,000.

In a statement today, the MACC said the suspects were arrested at a restaurant at Taman Pendamar Indah 2, Pandamaran, about 3.25 pm Friday (Nov 2).

“When arresting the three, we also seized RM5,000 cash at the scene.  

"Initial investigations revealed that a teacher (one of the suspects) had asked for and received a bribe from the complainant, also a teacher,  a sum of RM5,000 in return for him to ask the headmaster to support the complainant's application for a transfer to another school,” the statement said.

Meanwhile, Selangor MACC director Datuk Alias Salim, when contacted, confirmed the arrest made under Section 17 (a) of the MACC Act 2009.
