7 detained for cheating in PKR Petaling Jaya Utara elections


The second leg of the Selangor PKR elections saw disruptions in several divisions.

PETALING JAYA: Police nabbed seven men for allegedly trying to cheat in the PKR Petaling Jaya Utara division elections.

The arrests, which took place on Sunday (Oct 21) night, was confirmed by Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zani Che Din.

“The seven, aged between 18 and 55, have had their statements recorded and released on police bail,” he said when contacted on Monday (Oct 22).

He added that the case was being under Section 420 and 511 of the Penal Code for cheating and attempting to commit offences punishable by imprisonment.

The men were alleged to have used forged documents during the election.

The second leg of the Selangor PKR elections was mired by disruptions and fights in several divisions.

Amongst the divisions which experienced some measure of chaos were Gombak, Selayang, Petaling Jaya Utara and Puchong.
