IPOH: A new law to control tobacco, vaping and shisha will be enacted soon, says Deputy Health Minister Dr Lee Boon Chye.
He said that at the moment, there were laws to control tobacco products under the Food Act, and vape products containing nicotine under the Poison Act.
“But there are still no laws to regulate non-nicotine vape products.
“There are plans to introduce new laws to control tobacco products, and regulate vaping and shisha,” he said after launching a cardiovascular conference at a hotel here.
Dr Lee said a draft on the new legislation has been submitted to the Attorney General’s Chambers.
“Our next step will be a session with parliamentarians and stakeholders before it is presented in Parliament,” he said.
