SENAI: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Pribumi) is actively conducting administrative restructuring to resolve the party’s internal problems and to further reinforce the party, says its secretary-general, Datuk Marzuki Yahya.

He said improvements were necessary to strengthen the party’s foundation, adding the party faced a huge obstacle prior to the last general election, where it was disbanded, but now it is slowly picking up the pieces and putting up its structure.

“We do have internal problems, especially regarding membership issues, aside from irresponsible people who are trying action to sabotage and weaken our party,” he told reporters here.

Marzuki added that, now that Pribumi has become part of the new government, they are giving those who oppose the party a chance to join their party in order to further fortify it and the Malay race.

He added that a disciplinary committee would be formed to refine and ensure the party doesn’t have any loose ends.

This was Marzuki’s first visit to Johor, after being appointed as the secretary-general about two weeks ago.

At the event, Marzuki also announced that Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Osman Sapian has been appointed as the state Pribumi chairman and Ayer Hitam Pribumi division chief, effective immediately.

“Apart from Johor, several other states would also see changes in the positions of its chairmen,’’ he said.
