KUALA LUMPUR: An NGO is urging family members to come forward to help a young girl found abandoned at the Pasar Seni bus station, where she had been staying for over a week.
The 10-year-old girl was discovered by a man wandering around Pasar Seni crying for her mother.
Pertubuhan Kebajikan Global Keselamatan Manusia Malaysia representative T. Kamalanathan said he was notified by the man and went over to pick up the girl at around 11am on Wednesday (Oct 10).
"When I spoke to the girl she told me that her father had passed away recently and she and her mother had been staying at the bus station for 10 days.
"She said she had an argument with her mother, known only as Thangamah, before she was left at the bus station," he said when contacted.
He said the girl did not have any documents on her and could only say that the family was from Sungkara Estate.
"She claims to have six siblings and is worried that her mother come to fetch her back home.
"I brought her to the police station to lodge a report and have sent her to a home in Subang Jaya temporarily while we search for her family," he said.
He urged anyone with information on the girl’s family to contact him at 016-974 4404 or go to the nearest police station immediately.
