KUALA LUMPUR: A woman was caught with about half a kilogramme of drugs after she led police on a short pursuit in Taman Salak Jaya here on Monday (Oct 8).
It is learnt that 487g of ketamine was found hidden in a packet of Chinese tea leaves by police who inspected her car after she crashed her vehicle during the pursuit.
Cheras OCPD Asst Comm Mohamed Mokhsein Mohamed Zon said a police patrol car initially tried to stop the vehicle along the East–West Link Expressway heading toward Petaling Jaya at around 10.30pm on Monday.
"The driver refused to stop and sped off toward the Taman Salak Jaya exit.
"The driver then lost control of her vehicle and hit a concrete divider.
"We arrested the 29-year-old woman and seized a packet of what is believed to be 487g of ketamine worth RM32,000," he said, adding that the woman also tested positive for drug use.
He added that the woman had a prior record for drug-related crime.
"We have remanded her for six days," he said at a press conference on Tuesday (Oct 9).
In an unrelated case, ACP Mohamed Mokhsein said police arrested a 26-year-old labourer after finding more than 60g of syabu and heroin on him.
"We stopped the man who was riding a motorcycle along Jalan Chan Sow Lin on Tuesday.
"Upon checking his machine, we found what we believe are three packets containing 60g of syabu and five packets containing heroin.
"Checks revealed the suspect has a prior record for drug possession and also tested positive for ganja," he said, adding that the suspect was remanded for six days.
