A COUPLE in Kuala Lumpur had to go to a police station on their wedding day to file a report against their caterer who disappeared a day before.

Metro Ahad reported that the newly-weds, Fatin Fatihah Yusof, 26, and Mohamad Shahir Mohd Jamani, 27, were still wearing their traditional wedding outfits when they went to the station to report their RM18,000 loss due to the caterer not showing up.

“My family and I only found out that the caterer had disappeared a day before our wedding.

“There was much panic and we had to look for another caterer,” said Fatin, an optometrist.

Fatin said they had given RM22,000 to the caterer, who luckily had paid RM4,000 to the wedding dais decorator, photographer and the emcee before vanishing.

“So we lost RM18,000 and had to pay another caterer RM15,000 at the eleventh hour to ensure that our guests had something to eat,” she said, adding that the second payment was made using her father’s retirement savings.

She said she only realised that they had been duped when news went viral on social media about the missing caterer.

“We called but no one answered and my number got blocked.

“We went to the office and found that the place was empty while the lorry had been impounded by debt collectors,” she said.

Metro Ahad also reported that there were six other victims in Selangor, five in Melaka and another one in Negri Sembilan facing the same fate on their wedding day.

> Actor and TV host Awal Ashaari wants netizens to stop pitting his daughter Lara Alana against Rozita Che Wan’s girl Aaisyah Dhia Rana, reported Kosmo!

Lara, Awal’s daughter with actress Scha Alyahya, is often compared to Aaisyah in terms of her appearance and articulateness.

“Netizens like pitting them against each other. Indirectly, this affects our relationship with Che Ta (Rozita).

“That’s why we refused to accept any show offers that will put them on the screen together because we don’t want this negative comparison to continue,” said Awal.

In a bid to put a stop to the “rivalry” started by netizens, Awal recently agreed to pair the two four-year-olds in a photo shoot.

The pictures were posted on Lara’s Instagram account with the caption: “This is for everyone who likes to pit kids against each other.

“We are nothing but pure hearts. It was nice meeting you just now @aaisyahdhiarana111 and you’re so beautiful.”
