PORT DICKSON: Tan Sri Isa Samad’s son plans to help his father win at the Port Dickson by-election.
Mohd Najib Mohd Isa, who is Teluk Kemang Umno Youth chief, said he was not too worried if the party took disciplinary action against him.
“As far as I am concerned, my father is not contesting against Barisan Nasional or Umno.
“And since he is the only local candidate, I will do my best during this campaigning period to ensure he wins,” said the 40-year-old.
Mohd Najib said: “He (Isa Samad) has quit Umno to contest only after the party decided to stay out.
“As with many other voters, we only want the best and a local to represent the voice of the people here,” he said.
Isa, who helmed the state as mentri besar for 22 years until 2004, resigned from Umno last week to stand as an independent.
He was a five-term Linggi and one-term Bagan Pinang assemblyman.
