Shop assistant assaulted while answering the call of nature

ISKANDAR PUTERI: A shop assistant answered the call of nature at the wrong time.

Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm Dzulkhairi Mukhtar said the 37-year-old victim was riding his motorcycle near some shophouses at SiLC Industrial Area here, when he stopped to relieve himself behind some bushes at around 2pm on Sept 20.

“Suddenly, two men approached him and ordered the victim to come out from the bushes.

“The suspects then hit the victim on his head, using their helmets and demanded the victim to hand over his motorcycle keys, as well as personal documents,” he added.

ACP Dzulkhairi said this at a press conference at the Tanjung Kupang police station here on Thursday (Sept 27).

He added that one of the suspects then left the scene with the victim’s motorcycle and his personal documents.

“Based on information and intelligence, we detained one of the suspects along Jalan SiLC 1/13.

"We also seized two motorcycles, as well as recovered the victim's driving licence and identity card,” ACP Dzulkhairi said.

He added the 24-year-old suspect, who tested negative for drugs, has one criminal record and admitted being involved in robbery and motorcycle theft.

“We are in the midst of tracking down the other suspect,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code and Section 379A of the same Code for motorcycle theft.
