PETALING JAYA: Incoming PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will meet with Works Minister Baru Bian (pic) on Wednesday (Sept 26) to obtain an explanation regarding corruption accusations concerning the latter’s aide.

“We take very seriously any allegations of corrupt acts… I have seen the video clips of the meeting and of course it is very disturbing.

“I will personally speak to Baru tomorrow (Sept 26) to seek some explanation from him. I certainly feel that a minister must take notice if this allegations are true.

“Because, some of the report is quite compelling. We as a reform party, must take a serious view of such transgressions,” he said during a press conference at PKR’s headquarters in Merchant Square on Tuesday (Sept 25).

On Tuesday (Sept 25), PKR youth coordinator Ahmad Syukri Che Ab Razak lodged a report to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission against Baru’s aide, who is also contesting for a position in the party’s central leadership council in the party polls.

Anwar gave a stern warning to its leaders holding governmental positions not to abuse their powers for personal gratification,

“The video is certainly disturbing but the final decision with the MACC,” he added.

According to reports, Baru’s aide was said to have offered contracts worth RM20,000 and allocations totalling to at least RM300,000 during a meeting with PKR leaders on Sept 1.
