KOTA KINABALU: Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah, which lost all the seats it contested during the May 9 general elections, has applied to join ruling coalition Pakatan Harapan, said its party president Datuk Seri Lajim Ukin.

Lajim said his party’s executive council has taken the stand to fully support Pakatan as the new government which, among others, is restoring Sabah's eroded state rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963.

“Harapan Rakyat has no doubts in the sincerity of the Pakatan government in meeting the aspirations of the people of Sabah,” he told reporters after chairing the meeting, held at the party headquarters here on Saturday (Sept 22).

The party was wiped out at both Parliament and state seat level in the last elections. Lajim said that the party had applied on May 21 to join the four-party Pakatan coalition, but has yet to get any response.

“Pakatan follows consensus and if one party disagrees, they will no decision. So far we have not got any word on our application,” said the veteran Sabah politician, who himself lost his Klias state seat in the elections.
