PUTRAJAYA: The tender for the second phase of the RM5.2bil Klang Valley Double Track (KVDT) rail upgrade project has been cancelled.
Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the government felt the cost was way too high.
He said the high cost of the project was because it was awarded through direct negotiation.
"The government decided to cancel it.
"It will be awarded (anew) through an open tender process, which will be conducted at the end of the year," he told newsmen here on Wednesday (Sept 19).
Loke said the previous government awarded the project to Dhya Maju LTAT Sdn Bhd on April 4, a month before GE14.
