KUALA LUMPUR: No sympathy will be shown to the two PKR members if it is proven that they had attempted to solicit a bribe for the party polls, said PKR president-elect Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
"If it is proven, I will have no sympathy for them.
"I will move a motion to sack them as party members. This is our firm stand," he said when addressing a youth dialogue and book launch titled A People' s History of Malaysia authored by Dr Syed Husin Ali on Sunday (Sept 16).
The duo, aged 46 and 48, both members of the Kedah PKR election committee, were remanded by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on Sunday (Sept 16) after they allegedly asked for RM20,000 from a candidate to ensure that his name remains in the system for the party divisional election scheduled for Sept 22.
The 48-year-old man was arrested at 12.20pm at a restaurant in Alor Setar on Saturday (Sept 15) while the 46-year-old man was held at 3.25pm at the Pendang Toll Plaza along the North-South Highway.
The graft busters also seized RM10,000 cash in total from the duo.
Kedah MACC director Datuk Mohd Fauzi Mohamad confirmed the arrests of the two men.
