14 injured in three-vehicle collision in Penampang

PENAMPANG: Fourteen people were hurt – two of them seriously – in a three-vehicle collision along Jalan Penampang-Tambunan near Kampung Babagon here.

Sabah Fire and Rescue Department operations chief Katizah Rahaban said a team of eight firemen from Penampang rushed to the scene after a distress call was received at 1.21pm Tuesday (Sept 11).

"Three men, six women, three boys and two girls were injured in the incident involving three vehicles – two cars and a van. 

"Two victims were stuck in the van but were helped out of the wreckage by firemen.

"They were treated at the scene by medical personnel before being sent to Hospital Queen Elizabeth for further treatment," she said. 

Katizah said the operation ended at about 2.10pm.

Details of the victims were not given.
