Slasher identified, 7 in total arrested over attack on disabled man

SHAH ALAM: Seven people in total have been arrested over the attack on a disabled man in Jeram on Aug 31, and the police have also identified the suspect who used a machete in the incident, says Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Mazlan Mansor (pic above).

He said police would be arresting the man soon.

Earlier during a press conference at the Selangor police headquarters, Comm Mazlan reiterated that the assault had nothing to do with race, and that it was over an argument over mat rempit making excessive noise with their motorcycles.

He said police were also aware that certain misleading messages had been going viral over the incident.

“We will not hesitate to take action against anyone spreading these malicious messages.

“We are working to identify the culprits who sent out the messages,” Comm Mazlan said when contacted on Thursday (Sept 6).

It was reported that a group of men were eating at a stall on Aug 31, when they saw another group racing their motorcycles nearby.

The first group scolded the motorcyclists, who then left the area, only to return later and proceeding to slash a disabled man there.

By Tuesday (Sept 4), the police had arrested six people.
