Mat Sabu sees off latest batch of soldiers sent to Lebanon

SUBANG JAYA: The latest batch of soldiers have been sent to Lebanon for an ongoing peacekeeping mission.
 
MALBATT 850-6 is the latest combined military detachment that has been sent as part of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
 
Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu saw off the first group, comprising of 215 officers and soldiers, on Thursday (Sept 6).
 
The current detachment is commandeered by Colonel Azhan Md Othman. It also includes 30 personnel from the Brunei Armed Forces.
 
In total, the current group will have 850 personnel. The remaining 635 will be sent off in stages.
 
In his speech, Mohamad Sabu urged the soldiers to perform their duties dutifully, and with integrity.
 
MALBATT 850-6 replaces MALBATT 850-5, who have been on the peacekeeping mission since September last year.
