Ministry to ensure smooth implementation of SST

KULIM: The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry will coordinate with other ministries to ensure the smooth implementation of the Sales and Service Tax (SST) .

Minister Datuk Saifuddin Nasu­tion Ismail said the coordination would be carried out by his ministry with the co-operation of the Finance Ministry and Communica­tions and Multimedia Ministry.

“The SST Act is under the Finance Ministry and it will determine which goods are to be imposed tax­es,’’ he told reporters after attending the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) charity programme at Kampung Tengah Relau, Bandar Baharu, here yesterday.

Also present were Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs ministry secretary-general Datuk Sri Jamil Salleh, SSM chief executive officer Datuk Zahrah Abd Wahab and Kedah Indian Community Affairs, Unity, Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Committee chairman R. Summugam.

Saifuddin advised traders to refer to the Customs Department website on the list of goods and service imposed with SST. — Bernama
