PETALING JAYA: The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has announced the appointment of former Khazanah Research Institute director Dr Muhammed Abdul Khalid (pic) as economic adviser to the Prime Minister effective next Monday.
Dr Muhammad is currently the managing director and chief economist at data analysis firm DM Analytics Malaysia.
He is a trained economist with more than 20 years experience in numerous economic and financial sectors.
He was also formerly Securities Commission Malaysia head of economics and a senior analyst at the Institute of Strategic and International Studies.
“He has been a consultant for the World Bank, UNDP, United Nations Children’s Fund and United Nations Economic as well as Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific,” it added.
The PMO said Dr Muhammad obtained his PhD (magna cum laude) from the Institut d’études Politiques de Paris (SciencesPo Paris), France.
He also holds a Master’s degree in Economics from Universiti Malaya and had obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from University of Southern California in Los Angeles.
