KOTA KINABALU: A man wanted by police for injuring his wife by throwing a sickle at her has been found dead, hanging from a tree.

The 42-year-old man, who had been on the run since a police report was lodged against him on Aug 15, was found near the Ulu Penangah river in central Tongod district at about 3.30pm Friday (Aug 17).

Kinabatangan police chief Supt A. Sahak said villagers came across his body and immediately lodged a report.

His body has been sent to the Kinabatangan hospital for a post-mortem.

In the Aug 15 incident, the man is believed to have lost his temper when his wife scolded him for being drunk.

She ordered him to harvest some oil palm fruits but he instead picked up a sickle and threw it at her, causing injury to her thigh.

The couple have six children together.
