PETALING JAYA: One of Petaling Jaya’s contemporary landmarks, Kompleks Penchala, has received a face-lift and rebranded as Kompleks Wan Kien by City Motors Group.
The complex opened in style with a glitzy parade of classic cars, reminiscent of the group’s role as the first franchise holder in Malaysia of Italian marque Alfa Romeo.
The complex was named after City Motors Group founder and executive chairman Datuk Dr Foo Wan Kien to mark a new milestone in over five decades of its achievements in the automobile and property sectors.
“It is more than just building more properties. It is also about transforming the lives of our customers that we touch for the better and leaving a good legacy behind,” Foo said at yesterday’s opening.
Kompleks Wan Kien, which sits on 2.2 acres of land, was bought this year by the company and refurbished at a cost of RM2mil with a total rentable area of 130,000sq ft.
Foo said City Motors Group is also embarking on developing two multimillion tower projects in Bangsar and Bukit Bintang.
The Bangsar development will be ready for preview early next year while the Bukit Bintang project is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2022, he added.
Housing and Local Government Minister Zuraida Kamaruddin lauded the company’s bold move in developing two multimillion projects concurrently.
She said the recovering economy is expected to strengthen the real estate market in the near future and trigger a return in investor confidence. Her speech was read out by Deputy Minister Datuk Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah.
The Bangsar project in Jalan Maarof is a 48-storey skyscraper comprising a hotel and serviced apartments. The project in Bintang Walk at Bukit Bintang is designed to be a freehold, mixed development infrastructure comprising a hotel and serviced apartments.
