PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad met  Indian Pakatan Harapan leaders on Monday (Aug 13) to discuss the progress of fulfilling promises made to the Indian community in the coalition’s manifesto.

Present was Human Resources Minister M. Kulasegaran, who posted pictures of the meeting on his Facebook account.

Also present were National Unity and Social Wellbeing Minister P. Waytha Moorthy and Rural Development deputy minister R. Sivarasa.

Prior to this, the manifesto had been criticised by MIC Youth chief Datuk Sivaraajh Chandran, who said that it had "vague and unrealistic goals" when it came to the Indian community.

Dr Mahathir had also previously said that he was partly guilty of neglecting the community during his first tenure as prime minister.

“I’m afraid I too may be found guilty of not giving (them) enough attention,” he said.

The outcome of the meeting is expected to be addressed by Dr Mahathir in Parliament on Tuesday (Aug 14).
