PETALING JAYA: The latest in a flurry of books, following the stunning May 9 general election results, is one written on PKR president-elect Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The book, titled Anwar Returns: The Final Twist, is penned by Australian lawyer Mark Trowell QC.
Trowell has previously written books on Anwar such as Sodomy II: The Trial of Anwar Ibrahim (2012) and The Prosecution of Anwar Ibrahim: The Final Play (2015).
Anwar’s wife and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail will launch the book on Aug 26 at Hilton Kuala Lumpur.
There will also be a welcome speech by Institut Darul Ehsan (IDE) chief executive and deputy chairman Prof Datuk Dr Mohammad Redzuan Othman.
Both Anwar and Trowell will also speak at the event.
Published by Marshall Cavendish, the book covers the prosecution and release of Anwar, including the election results which led to his full pardon and return to the Malaysian political landscape.
IDE senior research manager Khairul Arifin Munir said the latest book was an updated version of The Prosecution of Anwar Ibrahim: The Final Play.
“It has additional chapters taking us up to the time of Anwar’s pardoning. It’s the extended version of the earlier book, also viewed through the structure of the legal perspective, because Trowell is a legal expert,” he said.
