KUALA TERENGGANU: The CEO of state water supply company Syarikat Air Terengganu Sdn Bhd has been remanded for six days to help in an investigation into abuse of power.

The senior officer is suspected of using his position to approve renovation and upgrading works worth over RM380,000 on a building in Gong Badak, Kuala Nerus around December 2016 and February this year.

He is believed to have later used the building as his private residence.

It is learned that Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) officers arrested the senior officer on Sunday (Aug 5).

Assistant registrar at the Kuala Terengganu magistrate’s court Roszita Md Saad allowed for the 58-year-old to be remanded by the MACC until Aug 11 to aid with the investigation.
