Seri Setia rep Shaharuddin Badaruddin passes away


KLANG: Seri Setia assemblyman and Selangor executive councillor Prof Dr Shaharuddin Badaruddin passed away at 6.28pm Thursday (Aug 2) after a battle with cancer.

Dr Shaharuddin, 56, a PKR vice- president, is the chairman of the Selangor Islamic Affairs as well as the Selangor Education and Human Capital Development Committee.

According to Dr Shaharuddin's senior secretary Zafrullah Aris, the former academic passed away at the Putrajaya Hospital.

His remains will be brought back to his residence at Desa Pinggiran Putra, Kajang for funeral prayers.

His body will be buried Friday morning at Tanah Perkuburan Kampung Limau Manis in Kajang.

Dr Shaharuddin's demise will mark the third by-election in Selangor since the May 9 general election.

Former Sungai Kandis assemblyman Mat Shuhaimi Shafiei, also from PKR, succumbed to lymphoma on July 2, which paved the way for a by-election on Aug 4.

Following this, Balakong assemblyman Eddie Ng died in a road accident on July 20 and a by-election in the state constituency will be held on Sept 8.
