KUALA LUMPUR: Police personnel who turn a blind eye to illegal gambling syndicates will face stern action, warns Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun.
This came after former Gombak OCPD Asst Comm Ali Ahmad was transferred out for failing to act against illegal gambling dens in Rawang.
Mohamad Fuzi confirmed that several other officers were also transferred.
"I hope this will act as a lesson for the others," he told reporters after attending a seminar with the Human Rights Commission (Suhakam) on challenges facing the men in blue at the Police Academy here on Thursday.
He added that he would be calling in all 157 OCPDs nationwide for a meeting on the matter next week.
Last week, the IGP joined a raiding party in Rawang, which took down 10 gambling dens there.
