Cops arrest five, seize drugs worth RM13,800 at Taiping house

IPOH: The police have arrested a family of four and a friend, seizing some 460g of heroin at a house in Simpang, Taiping.

Perak Narcotics chief Asst Comm R. Ravi Chandran said the arrest and seizure were made at the house in Taman Pengkalan Maju on Tuesday (July 31) at about 10.30am after receiving a tip off.

ACP Ravi Chandran said among those arrested included a 15-year-old student.

"The other suspects are aged 21, 24, 25 and 33. The last one was the friend.

"All tested negative for drugs," he said during a press conference at the state police contingent headquarters here Wednesday (Aug 1).

"The heroin seized is worth RM13,800. We also seized 3g of syabu worth RM450.

"We also seized three cars, two motorcycles, jewellery and money amounting to about RM60,480," he added.

ACP Ravi Chandran said the suspects would be remanded until Aug 7 to assist investigation.

"Three of them have previous records for crime and drug-related cases.

"The case will be investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act," he said.
