KUALA LUMPUR: The 34-year-old Islamic State militant, whose mission was to assassinate the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Muhammad V and top Malaysian leaders, was immersed in extremist teachings for over four years.

He was among seven militants detained by the Bukit Aman Special Branch Counter Terrorism Division following raids in Terengganu, Johor, Perak and Selangor from July 12 until 17.
