Durian seller injured in botched robbery

KUALA LUMPUR: A durian seller suffered multiple stab wounds in a botched robbery in front of a used car shop at Pusat Bandar Utara Selayang here.

Sentul OCPD Asst Comm R. Munusamy said the 23-year-old victim had just left his house carrying a pouch containing his take from durian sales when he was confronted by three foreigners.

“They tried to rob the victim but he fought back and was stabbed multiple times with a screwdriver,” he said.

The incident, which happened at around 7.30am yesterday, was witnessed by several policemen stationed nearby.

ACP Munusamy said one of the suspects was arrested at the scene.

Investigations revealed that the suspect is a 21-year-old Myanmar refugee, he added.

The victim, who suffered five stab wounds, was rushed to Selayang hospital and is now in stable condition, said ACP Munusamy.
