Speaker to appeal court ruling

KUCHING: The Sarawak Speaker will file an appeal against the Court of Appeal’s decision that the disqualification of DAP’s Pujut assemblyman Dr Ting Tiong Choon is unlawful.

Datuk Amar Mohamad Asfia Awang Nassar said the Court of Appeal’s decision would have a “crippling effect” on state legislatures and Parliament if it were to stand.
