GEORGE TOWN: A Penang DAP assemblyman has lodged a police report after receiving a death threat in her mailbox at her service centre.

Seri Delima assemblyman Syerleena Abdul Rashid (pic) said she found the note 'Death awaits you!' at 3.30pm on Tuesday (July 10).

"I don't know who sent the note, nor their motive. But I believe that the note is to scare me. This threat against my life needs to be investigated.

"I'm worried for my safety and my life. I urge the police to carry out investigations on this matter in a quick and fair manner," she said during a press conference at her service centre in Jalan Delima on Wednesday (July 11)

Syerleena said she filed a police report at 6.56pm on the same day at the Jelutong police station, several hours upon receiving the death threat.

Meanwhile, she also filed a police report about allegations concerning the country's official religion made against her on social media.
