Kedah finally ends deadlock over state assembly speaker

ALOR SETAR: The long-standing deadlock over the Kedah state assembly speaker ended on Wednesday (July 4) after former Kuala Kedah MP, Datuk Ahmad Kassim, was sworn in as the new speaker.

This was done after Kedah state secretary Iqbal Ahmad initiated a vote among the 36 state assemblymen to decide between two nominees - Ahmad Kassim and Kedah PAS commissioner Ahmad Fakhruddin Sheikh Fakhrurazi.
