Azmin among reps sworn into Selangor state assembly

SHAH ALAM: The Selangor state legislative assembly has created history by having a Cabinet minister in its line-up.

Economic Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, who is also Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyman, was among the state representatives who were sworn in on Tuesday (June 26).

The assemblymen took their oath of office at the first session of the new state assembly before newly appointed Speaker Sekinchan assemblyman Ng Suee Lim.

Of the 56 assemblymen, 21 are from PKR, 16 from DAP, Parti Amanah Negara (8), Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (6), Barisan Nasional (4) and PAS (1).

In his winding-up speech, Mentri Besar Amirudin Shari called upon the state's assemblymen to actively participate in the assembly's seven Standing Committees to serve the people effectively.
