JOHOR: The Johor Malay Chamber of Commerce Malaysia (DPMM) is urging the Government to set up a committee to look into the alleged misuse of power in awarding Federal and state land to parties or individuals.

DPMM president Datuk Syed Ali Al-Attas said the committee should also cover lands belonging to agencies, government-linked companies (GLCs) and government-linked investment companies (GLICs).

“Approvals given on the lands by the previous Barisan Nasional at the Federal and State levels should be frozen until the investigation is done,” Syed Ali said in a press conference on Monday.

Syed Ali said the investigation should focus on approvals given to ensure that there was no misuse of power such as awarding the land below market price or premium.

“We want to know and the people have the right to know whether there were elements of corruption involved, and the findings should be made public,” he said.
