Uprooted trees to grow into street art

GEORGE TOWN: They fell, but they are not gone. Most of the decades-old trees uprooted by the storm in Penang in November last year were salvaged as logs that are at least the height of an adult human.

More than 100 logs from these angsana or rain trees felled by the storm that wrecked havoc and brought massive flooding, especially to mainland Penang, will soon be transformed into beautiful art pieces by wood sculptors from around the world.
