Police arrest suspect for death of 7-year-old girl Nuraqira, possibly by fireworks

KOTA TINGGI: Police have arrested a man linked to the death of seven-year-old girl Nuraqira Khaleefa Muhammad Saad (pic).

Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Ashmon Bajah said the 35-year old suspect was detained at about 1.30pm on June 20, at Felda Papan Timur here.

It was reported Nuraqira died on June 19, after battling for her life for four days due to severe head injuries.

"He was arrested based on the information and investigation on the case," Supt Ashmon said in a statement, adding that the investigation papers will be submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor's office for further action.

The victim's father, Muhammad Saad Yusof, when contacted, said the investigation on the case indicated that his daughter died due to head injuries after she was hit by firecrackers.
