Wife of paralysed man moved by caring M’sians

PONTIAN: Rozita Faiman has been receiving many calls from friends and caring Malaysians wanting to get an update on her husband, who was left paralysed following an accident.

She said the calls started to come in after the video by Star TV, shot last year, was uploaded on social media by an unidentified person.

“I am so touched with the kind words from callers and those who posted their encouraging thoughts and support on my Facebook account,” said Rozita when met at her house in Kampung Sawah, Pekan Nenas, Pontian here.

She said her husband Mohd Syamaizar Mohamad Yahya’s condition remained the same after the incident in Batang Kali, Selangor, in August 2016.

Mohd Syamaizar, 35, fractured his skull and lost his right eye after falling off his motorcycle.

He had tried to avoid a cyclist and ended up hitting a road divider.

Rozita was seven months’ pregnant when the incident happened.

Her daughter Dhia Nur Iriesya Airis was born on July 7 last year.

“We are happy with her arrival. I know my husband is also happy but he cannot express his feelings. The name was given by him earlier,” said Rozita.

She has to look after both her husband and their daughter, who is just starting to walk.

Rozita, 30, said she was fortunate to have the support of her family members and close relatives, who visit her regularly.

“I am also fortunate to receive donations in cash and kind from caring Malaysians to ease my financial burden,” said Rozita, adding that she needs about RM4,000 monthly to buy medicine and related items for her husband.

Rozita said she has nothing much to look forward to this Hari Raya except praying for her husband to recover one day.
