KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal has called for political differences to be set aside over the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations.
In his first Hari Raya message since Parti Warisan Sabah took over the government from Barisan Nasional on May 12, Shafie said that the state government would do the best it could for the people.
“Sabahans deserve the best and I aim to give the people what is rightfully theirs. Things are moving in the right direction and it can only get better with a dedicated government that is people-centric,” he said.
“As we celebrate Aidilfitri we must also commit ourselves to build a great Sabah that all Sabahans can be proud of.
“We reaffirm the values of democracy, freedom of religion, hard work and nation-building to achieve social and economic progress for the future of our children,” Shafie said in his message released Thursday (June 14).
Reflecting on the election results, he said Sabah people have voiced their support for the Warisan-led state government formed with partners in Pakatan Harapan and Upko.
"My Warisan-PH-Upko government will be in full swing after the Aidilfitri holidays as there is a tremendous amount of work to do,” he said.
Shafie and his state cabinet ministers will be holding Aidilfitri celebrations at the Menara Tun Mustapha in Likas here on Sunday from 10am to 2pm.
