Man nabbed over football betting
SIBU: A 62-year-old man has been picked up from a house in Taman Rajang here for suspected involvement in 2018 World Cup football betting.
A raid by a Sibu CID team also recovered several betting slips from the suspect, who was also taking bets for illegal four digit syndicates.
Sarawak CID chief Senior Asst Comm Dennis Leong said a cellphone and RM545 were also seized.

Former Harian Metro group editor dies
SHAH ALAM: Former Harian Metro group editor Ahmad Puad Onah died at his residence in Denai Alam here of a heart attack. He was 62.
His son Asrul, 27, said his father died at about 9.30am yesterday.
He said his father had heart problems which became worse after he went for a family holiday in Hong Kong.

80 children get Raya treat
PORT DICKSON: Some 80 children from two welfare organisations were treated to a charity breaking of fast event and a sunset cruise ride in conjunction with Hari Raya.
Lexis Hotel Group, led by its president Mandy Chew Siok Cheng, hosted the programme as part of its corporate social responsibility initiative.
The organisations were Pertubuhan Anak Yatim Baitul Mahabbah, Seremban, and Pertubuhan Anak Yatim Asnaf Murni, Bandar Sri Sendayan.

Two deny carrying a knife at court complex
KUALA LUMPUR: Two men claimed trial to possessing a knife at the court complex’s parking space here last month.
Self-employed Jamalhayat Ahmad Sani, 29, and ice-cream seller Mohamad Habib Abdul Jabar, 32, were charged separately before Sessions Court judge Dr Gan Chee Keong yesterday.
They were accused of having a 16.5cm knife at the complex in Jalan Tunku Abdul Halim (Jalan Duta) at 1.15pm on May 22.
Both accused were not represented.
The mention dates were fixed on July 10 for Jamalhayat and on June 26 for Mohamad Habib.
