PETALING JAYA: A lorry driver has been sentenced to five days’ jail and fined RM2,500 by a magistrate’s court here for obstructing a policeman from carrying out his duty.
Magistrate Nurulhuda Zakariya handed down the sentence yesterday on Shahirol Amizi Salleh, 37, who pleaded guilty to obstructing Kpl Mohd Yusof Mohd Nor, who was on crime prevention patrol, from discharging his duty.
The offence was committed at Kesas Expressway, Bandar Sunway here, at 12.45pm on June 8.
Shahirol Amizi, who was unrepresented, was ordered to serve the jail sentence from the date of his arrest.
According to the facts of the case, police stopped Shahirol Amizi, who then drove off in his lorry after giving his identity card and driving licence. — Bernama
