KLUANG: A 25-year old women and her two-year old toddler were killed in an accident involving two vehicles at KM79, Jalan Johor Baru-Ayer Hitam.
The victims Nur Aqilah Tukol and her daughter Amanda Nur Keisha Akmal Lufti died on the spot in the incident at around 4.30pm.
Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Mohamad Laham said the car was driven by Nur Aqilah's husband, 32-year old Akmal Lufti Esa.
"The family was travelling from Simpang Renggam to Ayer Hitam and the car veered into the opposite lane before ramming into the lorry," he said.
ACP Mohamad said the lorry was driven by Hussin Rakimin, 52, from Parit Zin, Batu 6 1/2, Bakri, Muar was heading to Simpang Renggam from Ayer Hitam.
He said initial investigations showed that it was raining heavily and the road conditions were slippery when the incident happened.
ACP Mohamad said Akmal suffered serious injuries and was now receiving treatment at Kluang Hospital while the lorry driver was unhurt.
The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
