‘Sambal goreng’ a hot item for Javanese community


JOHOR BARU: Sambal goreng, a serving on nasi ambeng, continues to be a favourite dish at the dinner table of most people of Javanese descent in Johor.

The spicy sauce, originating from Indonesia, is prepared differently by people in Johor, Selangor and Singapore. It goes with rice (pronounced um-bng), a type of nasi campur (mixed rice) served on a shared platter.
