KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Johnson Tee has announced his resignation as the secretary-general of Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) and has quit the party.
In a statement Tuesday, Tee – who is also the Sabah State Assembly Deputy Speaker – said he resigned on May 25 and has informed PBRS president Tan Sri Joseph Kurup of his decision.
“He has acknowledged my resignation,” said Tee.
PBRS announced on May 12 that it will be withdrawing its membership from Sabah Barisan Nasional.
It was the third Barisan component party to leave the coalition, after United Pasokmomogun Kadazandusun Murut Organisation (Upko) and the Liberal Democratic Party.
