KUALA LUMPUR: Bumiputra contractors will not be sidelined under the new Pakatan Harapan Government, said Malaysian Malay Contractors Association president Datuk Mokhtar Samad.
He said that the Government had given them the assurance following a meeting with the Council of Eminent Persons (CEP) on Thursday (May 24).
"Tun Daim Zainuddin and his panel members gave the assurance that we will not be left behind. This country is made up of bumiputras and non-bumiputras," said Mokhtar.
He said he was “satisfied” with his meeting with Daim and in turn gave his assurance to Malay contractors in the country that the present government was on their side.
“However, bumiputra contractors need to be prepared to take on challenges, as success has to be based on competitiveness.
"Whoever has talents, the government will help," Mokhtar told the media at Menara Ilham, near KLCC here.
Other notable figures who met with the CEP, include Telekom Malaysia Bhd group CEO Datuk Seri Mohammed Shazalli Ramly and Bank Rakyat managing director and president Datuk Zulkiflee Abbas Abdul Hamid.
