Teenager beaten to death, 17 suspects arrested

KUALA LUMPUR: A 17-year-old boy was beaten to death with helmets and bike chains during a fight between two groups triggered by a misunderstanding.

In a statement on Monday (May 21) night, City police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mazlan Lazim said that the incident occurred in the early hours of May 20, in front of a petrol station carpark at Taman Melati here.

He said the brawl stemmed from a previous fight in Taman Tasik Tititwangsa.

No reports were made from the earlier scuffle.

"As of now, 17 suspects have been apprehended, aged between 14 and 20.

"Three out of the group members are females while two have tested positive for drugs. Their remands began on May 20 and will last until May 26.

"The police are still searching for 16 more suspects. Those with information are urged to contact their nearest police station," said Comm Mazlan.
